The Relationship between Language Delays and Autism in Early Childhood

This webinar is hosted by the MD Coalition of Families for Children's Mental Health and the Innovations Institute.
This monthly web-based workshop series is designed for family members and staff working in family organizations. The issues identified are cross-cutting issues that all family organizations are confronted with as they respond to the needs of families. Speakers are experts in their field from state and national organizations. The presentations will last approximately 45 minutes. They will be followed by a 15-minute question and answer period. Participation is both web-based and by telephone-only conference call.

Abstract: Laurie Swineford, PhD will present this workshop for parents and educators to learn about early communication impairments and developmental delays. Most children with language delays do not develop autism. However, ongoing research has been studying the potential risk factors associated with language delays and autism. This presentation will include important information on current research studies and findings.
